Thyroid+ – Kosttilskudd for skjoldbruskkjertelen

Medis Thyroid+ is a synergistic formula designed to support thyroid health, energy, and hormonal balance. It combines key nutrients, adaptogens, and medicinal mushrooms to nourish the thyroid gland and help the body adapt to stress.

Kelp (Fucus vesiculosus), L-Tyrosine, Cordyceps (10:1 extract), Reishi (10:1 extract), Coleus forskohlii (standardized to 10% forskolin), Selenium (Methyl Seleno Cysteine).

Hormonal balance plays a crucial role in thyroid function. Elevated estrogen levels – common in women after age 35 or in cases of hormonal imbalance – can interfere with thyroid activity by increasing thyroid-binding proteins in the blood. This reduces the amount of free, active hormone (T3) available to the cells, often leading to symptoms of low thyroid activity even when blood tests appear normal. The adaptogens and nutrient cofactors in Medis Thyroid+, such as Ashwagandha, Selenium, and Coleus forskohlii, help optimize hormone conversion and balance, ensuring that thyroid hormones remain active, efficient, and effective in the body.

KELP (Fucus vesiculosus)

The kelp (Norwegian bladderwrack) used in this formula is naturally rich in iodine and contains fucoidan – a bioactive compound studied for its ability to reduce hunger and cravings. It regulates blood sugar and supports healthy metabolism. Fucoidan also provides antioxidant protection and contributes to balanced energy levels throughout the day. In addition, bladderwrack offers over 60 nutrients, including trace minerals, vitamins, and polyphenols, that contribute to overall vitality and well-being.

L-TYROSINE

An essential amino acid and the primary building block of thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). Without sufficient tyrosine, the thyroid cannot produce these hormones effectively. Tyrosine also works together with iodine to form thyroid hormone molecules, making it critical for normal thyroid function. Adequate levels support steady energy, metabolism, and mental clarity – all areas that can suffer when thyroid activity is low. It also plays a role in producing dopamine and norepinephrine, neurotransmitters that influence mood, focus, and stress resilience, often affected in thyroid imbalance.

CORDYCEPS (10:1 extract)

Cordyceps contains active compounds such as cordycepin, adenosine, polysaccharides, sterols, and nucleosides. These work together to enhance energy, oxygen utilization, and mitochondrial function. The bioactives improve ATP production, making cells more efficient in generating energy. For thyroid health, cordyceps supports the adrenal–thyroid connection, helping reduce fatigue and stress load often associated with hypothyroidism. By improving oxygen uptake and circulation, cordyceps may help counteract the sluggish metabolism, cold intolerance, and low energy often linked to low thyroid function. Its polysaccharides and antioxidants also help regulate immune responses and reduce inflammation, potentially protecting against autoimmune thyroid disorders. Cordyceps’ ability to balance cortisol and improve cellular resilience makes it a valuable adaptogen for maintaining thyroid hormone efficiency.

REISHI (10:1 extract)

Reishi mushroom is rich in triterpenes (ganoderic acids), polysaccharides (β-glucans), sterols, peptides, and antioxidants. These compounds work synergistically to regulate immune activity and reduce chronic inflammation by calming an overactive immune system. For thyroid health, Reishi is especially valuable in autoimmune thyroid conditions like Hashimoto’s or Graves’. The immunomodulating β-glucans in Reishi help balance Th1/Th2 responses and reduce antibodies against thyroid tissues. Its triterpenes also provide strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protection, shielding thyroid cells from oxidative stress. By supporting adrenal balance and reducing cortisol overload, Reishi indirectly improves thyroid hormone regulation and energy metabolism. It can also help with common thyroid-related issues such as fatigue, anxiety, and poor sleep, by promoting relaxation and nervous system balance.

ASHWAGANDHA (Withania somnifera, 10:1 extract)

Ashwagandha is a renowned adaptogen containing withanolides, alkaloids, saponins, and sitoindosides that help the body adapt to stress and restore balance in the endocrine system. For thyroid health, Ashwagandha is one of the best-studied herbs. Research shows it can stimulate the production of thyroid hormones, particularly T4, and improve the conversion of T4 into the active hormone T3. This makes it especially supportive for individuals with hypothyroidism or imbalanced thyroid function. By balancing cortisol and the HPA axis (hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal), Ashwagandha reduces stress-driven suppression of thyroid activity – a common factor in thyroid imbalance. Its antioxidant compounds also protect thyroid tissue from oxidative stress and inflammation, often seen in autoimmune thyroid conditions. Additionally, Ashwagandha supports energy, mood, sleep, and cognitive clarity, addressing many of the symptoms tied to low thyroid activity.

COLEUS FORSKOHLII (10% forskolin)

Coleus forskohlii is a traditional Ayurvedic herb whose active compound, forskolin, stimulates the enzyme adenylate cyclase. This increases levels of cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate), a vital messenger that regulates thyroid hormone release and metabolism. For thyroid health, forskolin has been shown to enhance iodine uptake in the thyroid gland and stimulate the production of T3 and T4, helping activate metabolism. By boosting cAMP, it also promotes energy production, fat metabolism, and nutrient signaling – processes often reduced in hypothyroidism. Forskolin further supports circulation, vascular tone, and oxygen use in cells, which enhances energy and reduces fatigue. Clinical studies suggest it may also help support lean body mass and improve fat metabolism, contributing to healthier weight balance. By complementing adaptogens like Ashwagandha, which balance cortisol, forskolin helps create better synergy between thyroid and adrenal function. Its influence on cAMP also regulates lipolysis, insulin sensitivity, and mitochondrial activity, providing broad support for thyroid-driven energy and metabolic balance.

SELENIUM (Methyl Seleno Cysteine)

Selenium is a vital trace mineral that supports normal thyroid function by converting T4 into the active form T3. It protects cells from oxidative stress, strengthens the body’s antioxidant defenses, and supports energy metabolism. By protecting DNA and chromosomes from damage, selenium helps maintain healthy cell function and long-term vitality. Studies suggest it plays an important role in reducing the risk of cell mutations and strengthening immune protection by up to 20–30 times.
